The Kite Kids' Reading Recommendations
Today is World Book Day, hurrah!
Here at Kite we love reading so we asked our Kite family to share their favourite books to help you and your little one choose your next read.
Read on to discover the Kite kids' reading recommendations.
The Bravest of Bears
Ally has very fond memories of story time with her girls when they were little.
"My favourite book to read with them was The Bravest of Bears by John McClelland. They never tired of reading the same book over and over."
Roger's son, Fraser (age 8), chose Taylor Turbochaser by David Baddiel.
"I don't know why I like it - maybe because it has cars in it, and I love cars. It also has some really funny bits."
One Of Us Is Lying
Kayra (age 10) is hooked on this murder mystery by Karen M. McManus.
Ozay's daughter said "I enjoy reading it because it's interesting. There are lots of things happening and it's very dramatic."
Lukas (age 11), Andrea's son, is currently reading Cloudburst by Wilbur Smith. It is the first book in the Jack Courtney adventure series and where the epic adventure begins.
"There are lots of plot twists and cliff hangers. You never know what will happen next."
One of our older Kite Kids, Tom (age 12), recommends the Kid Normal books by Greg James and Chris Smith.
"They're really funny stories about a group of kids with super powers. They have to try and save the world in secret."
Harry Potter and The Order of the Phoenix
Andrea's daughter, Amelie (age 12), is a massive Harry Potter fan.
"This one is my favourite because it is the right mix of fun, suspense and darkness!"
The Fish Who Could Wish
Ozay's youngest daughter, Mia (age 4), chose this colourful picture book as her favourite.
When asked why, she said, "Because I love it. He says 'What could I wish for?' and he gets it."
The Wizards of Once
Roger's son, Will, (age 10) likes to read the Wizard of Once books by Cressida Cowell.
"They are hilarious and have good meaning. Also, there is a small sprite called Squeezjoos who says the word fascinteresting."
Diary of a Wimpy Kid
Max (age 10), Lucy's son, loves all of the Wimpy Kid series.
"I really like reading the Wimpy Kid books because they are funny and the main character Greg does silly things. I have read them all, I hope there is a new one soon."
Ali-A Adventures: Game on!
Marie's son, Eric (age 8), recommends the comic book Ali-A Adventures: Game on!
"It's about adventure and gaming so it's really fun and interesting. It's a comic book, so that's quite good too!"
Journey to the River Sea
Jo's daughter, Rosie (age 15), loves Journey to the River Sea by Eva Ibbotson.
Remembering how much she enjoyed it when she was younger, Rosie has started a YouTube channel for her Duke of Edinburgh voluntary work called Reading with Rosie where she is reading this book to children online.
You can find her channel below where you can listen to the fifteen minute episodes shared every day.
